Walk into Grace's Place on any given week, and you'll find a Bible open somewhere — in a group therapy circle, in a mentor's hands, in the pages of the workbook every survivor works through during her time with us. That's not incidental. It's central to how we understand healing.

Trauma needs more than a technique

Clinical care matters enormously, and it's a core part of what we offer — every woman at Grace's Place has access to weekly sessions with a clinical psychologist. But trauma from domestic violence doesn't only wound the mind. It wounds identity, worth, and the sense that life still holds a future. That's a spiritual injury as much as a psychological one, and we believe it calls for a spiritual answer alongside clinical care, not instead of it.

"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." Psalm 147:3 (KJV)

How Scripture shows up in daily life here

It's not abstract. It's woven into the practical rhythm of the shelter:

  • Word-based group therapy — sessions that combine trauma-informed facilitation with Scripture that speaks directly to shame, fear, and identity.
  • The Designer Women's Guide to Surviving Domestic Violence — our in-house, three-part curriculum that walks each woman from safety, through healing, into purpose, grounded throughout in biblical truth about her worth.
  • One-on-one mentoring — where mentors gently help survivors replace the voice of an abuser with a truer one.

Many of the women we serve arrive having been told, in one way or another, that they are worthless, that they deserved what happened to them, or that no one else would want them. Scripture offers something a technique alone cannot: an unshakable answer to that lie.

"Healing isn't just about managing symptoms — it's about remembering who you are."

Faith without pressure

We never make faith a condition of receiving help. Every woman who comes to Grace's Place receives shelter, safety, and care regardless of her beliefs. What we offer is an invitation, extended gently and without pressure, into a source of healing many of the women in our care tell us they didn't know they needed until they experienced it.
